The time is at a halt Is it my fault? Was it a false start? False at the heart Distant echoes of lost voices Ghosts in my sphere Fallen off the rungs The time is at a halt Is it my fault? Was it a false start? Small talk, lone thoughts Fast walk, run hawk Thoughts Locked in an hourglass There’s acid in my blood Heated by my fear In a cloudless turbulence Hallucination Where do I run? Disintegration I missed the starting gun Nosedive I’m falling endlessly Crawling back into my shell Snapped into living hell The only way to dream is to die Hallucination Cohabitation Desolation Daydreams Rattle and hum The damage is done The damage is done

Lake 04:01
Strolling down Lake With the blinders on Been a while since we moved on Found our spot By the canopy Singing tunes in the shade Had a thought Just a vagary Before it’s too late (say) Awaken (awaken, my love) The storm has abated We’ve been dislocated Find me again I’ve been waiting idly Waiting for you to find me Again All of the cloudless dreams, riven In an endless stream of images All of my idling, stricken It’s the end of the road An alarm is beeping Awaken (awaken!) The world is awaiting Don’t be dislocated Find me again I’ve been waiting idly Waiting for you to find me Biding time for you To find me again Strolling down to the lake Eyes heavy Dreaming under the sun Waken Been a while since we moved on

I Wandered for so long (so long). In cold water, endless rivers A narrow pass Rushing to a vision (of fission, our fissure, your visage, of frigid air) Wandered too long To find a delta to the sea You and I Blinded by a dream Splitting in the streams Continually Unguided Conceiving an image Imagining bridges Between you and me I Pondered these things...for so long In solitude, iridescent blues An endless echo Flow into...and risen (from prison, a collision, I’m driven) Flowing into the sea The delta You and I Dancing in a dream Drifting through the streams Continually We swim In schools of fish Untold riches Emptied to the sea Have mercy on me Have mercy Have mercy on me Open up my eyes I, open up Open up my eyes I, open up to a canopy

about

This EP tells the story of grief and recovery, from the pain of loss and separation to the process of self-realization and renewal. It explores lyrics in terms of sound, flow, speed, rhythm, and rhyme, with the words carrying the story of loss, withdrawal, hallucination, denial, dreams, and healing. With a combination of natural and electronic sounds, the soundscape further immerses the listener. Water is used as a symbol for darkness, grief, loneliness, change, and tranquility; the listener emerges from the forest canopy to see a new path in life, unburdened by the pain and suffering of the past.

The idea for this EP began in my lyric writing class with Marc Lowenstein at CalArts, and I am thankful to that class for inspiring me to write, write, write. This is the most uninhibited and freeing work I've ever done. I hope you enjoy.
